The Kangeyam cow derives its name from the Kangeyam taluk which includes Erode, Karur, Namakkal and Dindigul districts in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.
It is an indigenous breed of India. The animals are medium built in general and is considered a good draught breed in South India.
Although the milk of Kangayam cow has a high nutritious value with no bad fat, the breed is considered to yield only less milk.
But the nutiritionus values are high in the tradional ghee which has no bad fat by itself unlike our cross breed varieties.
